We were out for a bit of a drive to Tilbury for a futile shopping trip and took the scenic route via the little hamlets on the way home.

I had unfinished business in Chislehurst to attend to. I had solved some multis last week whilst attending SkiCyle’s event so I’m back to collect.

This is a special day in the geocaching sense. Firstly, there is a official souvenir for finding an Earthcache today and secondly, it’s the tenth anniversary(ish) of the publication of the first cache in the A Fine Pair series.😀

I needed to kill a bit of time this afternoon whilst waiting to pick my wife up from a hospital appointment. Twiddling with the Geocaching app, I noticed a 1.5/1 trad about 400 yards away that had escaped my attention.☹️

I had planned to come over to Buckhurst Hill to at least get The Portuguese Tramway Large trad for yet another challenge. As I had been over here a few times and knew that there was a decent Costa with free parking.

I need to have attended a century of events to qualify for a challenge cache in Faversham that I have signed. As events seem to be few and far between, perhaps people are still worrying about the Covid restrictions, I thought that I would host a couple of my own.

Last year, we booked a coach trip to the Dolomites which meant staying one night in France on the way out, one night in Germany one the way back and five nights in Italy. However as the Covid regulations chopped and changed, we became increasingly worried that the holiday would be compromised should one country suddenly changed its Covid rules for the worse.

I’m going back to Ashford today to try to gather up some more Wherigo caches.

My birthday is the 11th September which for the past twenty years has been connected to one of the worst terrorist atrocities ever. To add to this, the young daughter of one of my former work colleagues died in one of the Twin Towers - Karly Barbara Rogers RIP. So my birthday is now low key.

After spending some time caching in Cambridgeshire trying to visit all the stations on the defunct Cambridge to Mildenhall line, it’s time for a geographical change and I’m heading into Kent today. I want to find more Wherigo caches. Ashford seems to have so many concentrated there all put out by local cacher mankybadger. The plan was to start in Challock and work my way into Ashford. Here’s how the day progressed.
