Today there were two souvenirs on offer, one was the official Earthcache Day and the other was the unofficial A Fine Pair one.

I wanted to go out geocaching but didn't have a car so I decided to pop down the train tracks to Southend to check out a few AdLab series that had been wondering why I hadn't visited.

seWe had a cruise around the West Indies for last June but some of the islands were messing tourists around with their everchanging Covid polices so we decided to swerve the WI and settle for something closer to home.

So it’s worked out that I’m going over to South East Londonish for two days on the trot. I am again parking up at Birkbeck Station and getting buses down to the area around Crystal Palace FC and then heading north to the Lewisham area to gather what I can. Here’s how things went.

For various reasons, I need to bump up my AdLab figures. I know that there are four series close by each other in Chislehurst, in fact three series overlap. So here I am early on a Sunday tramping the streets adding to my knowledge of the town.

During WW2, my dad was a radio telegraphist on board HMS Nith, a River Class frigate. The Nith was damaged with loss of life at D-Day and after refit in the Isle of Wight, went out to the Far East where it was the first ship into what was left of the port after the fall of Rangoon in Burma.

My target of 1600 caches in Greater London needs a boost so I am heading towards Welling this morning. I have a couple of STs on my list plus a couple of nemesis caches that I would really like to fathom. Here’s how the morning went.

The plan this morning is to park up near Birkbeck Station again and walk the mile or so up to Anerley Station and start the geocaching day there.
