We had a bit of a do indoors last night so I wasn't going anywhere early this morning but I had arranged an event at Battersea Bridge for noon so I couldn't leave it too late. In the end I only missed an hour of the day's play and arrived at Victoria Station just after nine o'clock. Here's how the day panned out.
After finding my bearings, I set off to sort out the Gemstones in Grosvenor Gardens EC but the gates were locked and I couldn't get into the gardens. I took off down the road to find the 4/2 Jet Setter Challenge. The qualifying number of countries caching was ten so with 34, I was alright.😀
Next up was the Composers in London AdLab series. I was surprised how many famous pianists had lived around here. I visited four of the bases but Elgar was miles away so he had to be left which was a shame as there was a bonus for the series.🤔
I found the CM Belgravia ~ St Barnabus trad and then headed off for the Belgrave Fossils EC. This was my first introduction to Ichnofossils but made difficult by the wet pavement. I then followed the bases of Exploring Ebury Village AdLab series. When this was done, I started following a Chelsea Pensioner on a mobility scooter down the Royal Hospital Road to the search area of the bonus.
Opposite was the start of the Chelsea Riverside Village East AdLab series. I picked up The Oldest Boat Race trad and the Chelsea Series: Once Lived Here mystery whilst following all the bases. I found the bonus cache at 1156 and crossed the road to get to my event at noon.
I met Markichaz for the first time and exchanged TBs. Currykev, who I met last week was there and Wombatwandering appeared a few minutes later. There was general chitchat and Information was swapped on local multis and ECs until 1240 when Currykev said "can we go now?"😀 After pointing out how to get to Paddington to the Wombat, we all headed our separate ways.
I headed down Cheyne Walk to pick up the What a Stink #7 trad and then the recently Bridgeview III trad. I backtracked to Battersea Bridge and crossed over to find the Battersea Series: Thames Path trad and then headed north to Albert Bridge for the trad of the same name.
I crossed over to look for the Chelsea Riverside Village West AdLab series. I found myself following the trail that I had trod earlier on the East series.🥴 I found the Chelsea Embankment Gardens trad on the way. After I had added the AdLab bonus to the bag, I was looking to head up to the Kings Road. I noted that I was on a bus route and luckily one came along. I alighted in Kings Road and quickly found the cunningly placed The Wall mystery.
I found two trads in short order and then headed down to the CM Chelsea ~ St Luke multi. Time was getting on and I wanted to get over to the Elgar base. I headed towards Victoria taking two more trads in my stride. I wanted two more ECs today so I detoured for the Gneiss - D A Leslie EC.
I reached Victoria and sorted out the information for the Stonicles EC. It was just gone three so I decided to call it a day and head back to the City. I was hoping to have a coffee with one of my daughters who was working in town today.
