I had a spare couple of hours so I came over to South Woodham Ferrers hoping to find a few more caches here. I quickly found the new trad at Shirebourne Path and then drove down to the banks of the River Crouch. I have often been to the bank on the other side in Hullbridge checking out the Mute Swans.

The tide was out and I could just make out the concrete causeway connecting the two banks. I could imagine driving a horse and cart across at low tide. I believe that there was once a rowed ferry boat service across here once. I’d come down here for the River Crouch trad and this one was cunningly hidden on a nearby structure not the yacht winch shown in the photo.

I had a couple of DNFs at Culver Rise, which was subsequently found to be missing and then one at Cutlera Road where I’d failed before. I had a chance of another cache and found Fen Farm although it was an easy find as it was out in the open. Once I had sorted out the paper work, I put the cache back in a more safe place.
