It Was 52 Years Ago Today .....

.... that Paul Reyland and myself started work as Trainee Technician (Apprentice)s at the Post Office Brentwood Radio Station in Hatch Road, Pilgrims Hatch. I awoke this morning thinking that my life would have been so different if I hadn't got that job. It gave me a long and interesting career, travel and a bloody good pension. Good job, I wasn't colour blind!😎

Paul and I met in Chelmsford for lunch at noon today and a long natter until we went our separate ways. I'd already had a DNF at CM Chelmsford Meadgate multi this morning. I knew that I was in the right place as the CO had confirmed the coords. However I did a finger tip search at GZ but no joy.☹️

After I left Paul, I gathered some information at VS Chelmsford for the puzzle  but still needed a cache for the day. My plan was to look for the trad at Marconi's World near the theatre but usually it's a site for a smokers convention. Luckily it was clear today so I had a very quick find.

I took a photo of the statue which I presume is supposed to depict Guglielmo Marconi, the early pioneer of radio. All I see is Al Jolson, precariously balanced on a globe, pretending to be Zeus, the god of lightning.🙁

PS just a thought, my first week's wage of £5 19s 6d wouldn't buy two pints of decent beer now.🍻
