Historic Billericay

Read story

I had an hour to kill so I decided to have a try at the Historic Billericay Adventure Lab series. I was born somewhere in Billericay so I have a soft spot for the place. It is certainly historic for many other reasons, one of which was that the Pilgrim Fathers expedition to the New World was planned in a house in the High Street.

I had a very pleasant walk around the town starting at the old Workhouse and finishing in Mill Meadow close to the site of the former Smock Mill which I actually saw when I was a nipper. I can’t believe that I had never spotted the memorial to the Pilgrim Fathers at the bottom of the High Street.🤔
