Fingringhoe Frolics - 13th October

Read story

I'd been up to Fingringhoe many times for birdwatching. I once came here four times to try to see a Glossy Ibis and failed. I then saw one in Vange grrrrrrrr!

Anyway, I picked up a few caches on the way to Fingringhoe and then strode out on the Summer Festival series. All great fun, so many bespoke caches, well thought out and I found them all!

Back at the church, I had lunch and then set off for Ferry Lane to start the Gravel Pits Trail. I started off with the usually underwater Wivenhoe View cache. Parking near to the start of the trail, I had a dip at the first smelly one but I had a great walk around the back tracks of Fingringhoe.

Along the way, I had a DNF but I found all the caches but then realised that I had to backtrack to the smelly caches to get bonus numbers. I was able to find one of the missing bonus numbers, take a punt on the coords and come up with the cache! This gave me the bonus bonus, and then realised that I had walked past GZ twice already today!

So today was quite a result, 32 caches found and two DNFs. So two puzzles, one multi, which leaves 29 trads.

Just to recap, I'm now on 3977 caches, looking to hit 4K next week and I've only been on the trail 23 months. Result!
