My first call this morning was back in Aston Clinton. I had failed to find the 2005 vintage Aston Amble multi a few weeks back and I was certain that I had worked out the coords correctly but couldn't see how I'd made an error.🤔 The CO had kindly sent me a marked screen shot of the cache position so I used that and the hint to home in on the cache. It had been raining heavily in the night and the container had been tucked tightly under a bridge but all was well.😀 I signed the log sheet at 0807.
I drove a mile or so up to the CM... Buckland multi and quickly worked out some coords. There were a few information dates to choose from but only one set of coords looked right. I walked across the muddy fields to the final stage and was met by the hint item but unfortunately I couldn't find the cache. As I continued along the track to the next cache, the CO messaged me saying to log the CM as a find which was nice of them.👏
The Real Deal or a Red Herring (Bucks) trad was a 2005 golden oldie. It took me a while to get a glimpse of the well hidden cache. It took me a bit longer to work out how to get into position to grab the cache though. It's always pleasing when you sign a vintage log book.😀
I walked back to the car parked by the church lychgate and then set off for the big supermarket this side of Aylesbury where I was planning to have breakfast. Once I was fed and coffeed, I collected the Wood Green round trad nearby and then took of to a CM on the other side of town. I quickly found the CM... Aylesbury but the other trad nearby, CM... Fairford Leys remains elusive.🥴
I was held up just outside town due to more HS2 roadworks 🤬 but eventually got over to Hartwell. I was after the Hartwell Years AL series and another golden oldie. It wasn't the 2001 Egyptian Springs (Bucks) multi as I didn't fancy sorting out the hieroglyphics but the main photo shows the folly. I plodded around the AL series and completed all the bases. Now I don't remember there being a bonus here but there is one now.🤔 I visited the redundant church of St Mary's and worked out the coords of the 2004 Hartfelt Wishes (Bucks) multi. I was pleased to sign the log for this one at the final stage. There was an interesting bridge topped with chess pieces nearby.
I drove over to Stone to the CM Stone, St John the Baptist wherigo. Being a reverse, I had to gather info to access the app but now I can narrow the search area down with a few readings. I moved on up the road and sorted out the coords of the CM... Methodist multi. I was a bit miffed to realise that I had left my pen in the car when I was at the final stage.🥴 Undeterred, I signed my name usin the sap from a green leaf. The CO accepted my log and thought my effort was quite a hoot, not having seen that before. See, there's no excuse for not signing a log sheet.😀
Now the main plan for today was to find the 5/2 Team Hippo's Rainbow Challenge cache. I was trying to work out how best to approach it as I knew that I needed a long walk to get to it.🥴 I decided that I would try from Lower Winchendon. However this was a wrong move but at least I got the CM trad there. I drove round to Cuddington and took the long walk from there and eventually finding the prize.
Back in the village, not all the info was available to sort out the coords of the CM... Cuddington - St Nicholas multi. However the CO has now resolved the problem. I did manage to find the info for the CM... Cuddington - Methodist letterbox so hopefully that will be ready for me when I return to the village. The weather took a turn for the worse and I cut my losses and headed for home.
