A Scouse Surprise

Read story

After a not “too heavy“ night in the hotel, I got up early and went for a walk to a nearby cache keen to tick Cheshire off my geocaching map of England. I soon got to the search area for the trad Riley’s Ramble - Reservoir Dogs and soon struck gold.😀 I was pleased that I now had Cheshire on the map but after logging my find, I checked the maps on project.gc. I was very surprised to find that Merseyside was filled in but not Cheshire. I had unwittingly strayed cache across the border into Merseyside 😀😀

We arrived in Chester about ten thirty and we made our way from the coach park to the City centre for a coffee near the Rows galleries. I took the opportunity to sort out the Roman Baths Earthcache and the History with a pint trad nearby. Cheshire was definitely ticked off now.👏

We wandered around window shopping and then I found the trad at the magnificent Eastgate clock. I met Sir_Trev here whilst I was signing the log sheet. I had time for one more trad  so I carried on along the City wall until I got out to King Charles Tower - Battle View. When I got down to the towpath, I was concerned that the cache was inaccessible due to maintenance work. However there was no need to worry as I soon had the well placed cache in hand.

This was my last cache on the trip. I was really pleased to tick off the two counties. Only the Isle of Wight and Greater Manchester left to do in England. I feel a plan coming on.🤔
