After the disappointing washout last week, I had a bit of a count up and I only needed 76 caches in Herts to reach the 1k.
Miraculously, I had a couple of hours to spare as a few trads were published over near Wickford Memorial Park. I didn’t think that I had much chance of a DNF but I needed to get out anyway.
Today I was going to back into Hertfordshire to add to my county list. I had spotted a circular series near Wood End appropriately called MattTom’s Wood End Wander.
My wife booked us in at a hotel in Hyde Park on a wowcher deal for silly money. The only trouble was that the Hyde Park Hotel is next to Kensington Gardens.
To me, BP brings to mind only one name and that‘s Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout movement.
Last year, I signed the log of the 4.5/1.5 Four Counties- A CITO Challenge in Cambridgeshire but I had qualified.
This morning I want to tidy up the rest of the CNR series which is Thames side, just north of Erith. I had failed to find two trads here a couple of weeks ago but it turns out that they were both MIA.
I had a spare hour so decided to go for a walk around the nearby Wat Tyler Country Park, named after the leader of the Peasants Revolt in 1381, who allegedly lived across the marshes in Fobbing.
It’s bump up my Hertfordshire numbers day so I’m not going for high D/Ts just a couple of series of trads with a few more singletons chucked in.
